Square Meal - Spring 2009
"Hackney Wick is not an area of London that has ever loomed large on the event organiser's map, but with the 2012 Olympics on the horizon, the are is on the cusp of a radical transformation. The canny venue to have got in there first is Forman's Fish Island, the headquarters of fourth generation family-owned salmon smoker H. Forman & Son.
The impressive contemporary building has a waterfront setting and boasts three modern event facilities - each with outdoor space - holding up to 600 for drinks or 400 for a sit-down.
Mayor Boris Johnson enthusiastically launched the venue in January and bookings are already flowing thick and fast, not least for 2012. 'Floor to ceiling windows mean you can see the Olympic Village unfold in front of you and we're the closest building to the site, whch is proving a big draw', says managing director Lance Forman.
Back to basics, we also love the stylish loos by Igloo, matching the 'industrial chic' character of the building."
